At last we are holding an actual REG meeting with a talk and live discussion – but outside! at Rye Community Garden, Love Lane, Rye TN31 7NE.
John Tucker is Director of Woodland Outreach. He will talk about where we are now in terms of tree cover and associated wildlife and then explore priorities for the future. Please see the short summary document of the Woodland Trust’s recent report “State of the UK’s Woods and Trees 2021”.
The Rye Community Garden is a short distance from Rye railway station next to the Tillingham allotments and Rye Primary School. You’ll see a black sign showing the upcoming work sessions in chalk, just come in through the gate, turn left down the path – and head for the table and chairs next to the shed. Key in post code TN31 7NE to find it on your satnav or google maps. Trains: Bexhill 5.15pm arrives Rye 5.48pm and return 8.48pm arrives Bexhill 9.22pm (or an hour later). Robertsbridge 4.34pm arrives 5.48pm and return 8.48pm arrives Robertsbridge 10.14pm.
Before the talk we have an opportunity to look round the Community Garden and at 6.15pm Dominic Manning will take us on a tour, and explain about how the local community can get involved as volunteers. Sessions are run on growing vegetables and doing other gardening activities from planting and harvesting vegetables, to weeding, watering, composting and eating! People can get involved as much or as little as they fancy.
The meeting will end by 8.30pm.
