What’s a good diet for people and planet?

Jointly organised by Rother Environmental Group and Bexhill Environmental Group, on Wednesday 30 October 2019,  Dr Geoff Rayner gave a fascinating talk on ‘Diet and Nutrition Transition and Planetary and Public Health’.

There were 3 key themes:

  • Human nutrition – We are what we eat
  • Food growing – with wildlife in mind
  • Climate breakdown – Will we be able to feed our kids properly as more extreme weather becomes the norm?

Geof worked with Prof Tim Lang at the Centre for Food Policy, City University, London. He was also Professor Associate public health at Brunel University, on the Expert Advisory Group on obesity to Department of Health, and researcher for a European Commission project on obesity governance.

He is the joint author “Ecological Public Health” (Routledge) and farms 1100 acres with 80 cattle in Northamptonshire.
