Subject: East Sussex, South Downs and Brighton and Hove – Waste and Minerals Plan PUBLIC CONSULTATION 27 OCTOBER TO 8 DECEMBER 2011

Dear Sir or Madam

EAST SUSSEX, SOUTH DOWNS AND BRIGHTON & HOVE WASTE AND MINERALS PLAN

PUBLIC CONSULTATION: 27 OCTOBER TO 8 DECEMBER 2011

We are pleased to confirm that public consultation on the draft Waste and Minerals Plan will take place from Thursday 27 October to Thursday 8 December 2011 and you are invited to comment.

What is a ‘draft Waste and Minerals Plan’ consultation?

The draft Waste and Minerals Plan sets out a vision, objectives and draft planning policies for implementing the strategy for managing waste and producing minerals to 2026. The Plan is being prepared jointly by East Sussex County Council, Brighton & Hove City Council and the South Downs National Park Authority. Consideration has been given to the comments received during the October 2009 – January 2010 consultation on a Preferred Strategy document and a revised approach is now being put forward on which we would like your views.

A guide to what is covered by the Plan is available here: Guide to the Draft Waste and Minerals Plan

A shortened version of the consultation document, which also contains background and contextual information, is available online (to view or download) at http://consult.eastsussex.gov.uk. Further, the full Plan and more detailed, supporting information is provided in the Sustainability Appraisal, a series of Information Papers, and background studies, which are also available on the website.

A factsheet has been prepared which outlines the revised approach in the Plan and this is available on-line at the following address: Factsheet 3

Please note that the next formal stage of consultation will be about tests of ‘soundness’ only so if you have any comments about the approaches in the plan then we would urge you to submit those comments during this consultation so that they can be fully taken into account.

How do I make comments?

You can make comments in several ways but we encourage you to view the document and send in your comments online as this will help make significant savings of resources and paper.
